There are estimated 75 million Baby Boomers in the US, aged 56 to 74 years old. Most of these Baby Boomers will retire in the next 10-15 years and many will downsize their homes. Many downsizing Baby Boomers live in larger homes over 3200 square feet. As they retire and look to get away from the day to day work that it takes to maintain their larger home, many will seek to move into a smaller, maintenance free lifestyle home. Downsizing Baby Boomers are much more active than their parents and many will move to warmer states like Florida and Arizona where they can be active outdoors year-round. As these downsizing Baby Boomers sell their larger homes and pack up to move to warmer climates most will need to hire a moving company and often will need to store items for a while until they decide whether or not to keep the items. These pieces tend to be; family heirlooms, collections, children’s keepsakes, etc. In fact, there are a lot of self-storage facilities popping up all over America in anticipation of the great amount of storage that will be needed for storing these 77 million Americans’ possessions. However, since most of these retiring and downsizing baby boomers will be over 65 years old, they likely will not be hiring a U-Haul and moving their excess belongings to a self-storage facility. Most will hire a professional moving and storage company that usually offers to store clients’ household belongings in their own warehouse. Moving and storage companies who know about the up-coming demand for services will be prepared to meet those needs with climate-controlled storage warehouses and enough staff and vehicles to meet the needs of these older, downsizing baby boomers. 31 years ago, William C Huff Companies had one small warehouse of 6000 square feet. Over the years it grew to 10,000 square feet and then to 20,000 square feet. Today the William C Huff companies offer more than 61,000 square feet of climate-controlled storage for its clients. Much of the reason for expansion has to do with the increasing demand from downsizing baby boomers.

William C. Huff Companies is committed to simplifying the complicated maze of moving and storing your priceless possessions.
