The proper packing and crating of your household possessions is imperative to the safe arrival of your valuable items. Family heirlooms such as pictures, fine art, books, dishes, lamps, and other breakable items should be properly packed before being loaded onto a moving truck. William C. Experienced Packing & Crating Staff
The staff at William C. Huff have been professionally trained by Chief Conservator, Merv Richard, of the National Gallery of Art, in all aspects of crating and handling fine art, sculptures, fine glass and porcelain. Other items which require crating are large glass, marble and stone pieces. William C. Huff Companies has a full crating department and can custom build the appropriate crates to guarantee safe handling.
Not all packing materials are the same. It is important to know that some boxes, tape and paper are lower quality material and can lead to frustration on move day. Many “big box stores” sell smaller than standard size boxes and often the boxes are thinner and are made with recycled material that does not hold up well against weight, moisture, and tape adhesion. William C. Huff Companies acquire only the best quality box, paper and tape material.
We make every attempt to pick-up and reuse boxes from our clients after they have unpacked. Our “no charge” for reused boxes program is popular for many of our clients who choose to pack for themselves. Additionally, we send over 250,000 lbs. of non-reusable box material and paper to recycling centers every year.
