Experienced Packing & Crating Staff
Efficient and careful professional packing and crating is a skill that requires time and professional training. Poorly packed boxes often result in unnecessary damage to irreplaceable items. At William C. Huff Companies, our packing staff are carefully trained in-house and then are selectively introduced to packing households until they are moved into the more delicate packing of fragile and priceless pieces. We only appoint experienced and highly trained staff when it comes to packing your treasured items.
A professionally packed household is naturally more expensive than doing it yourself. On average, the approximate cost for complete professional packing services will be as much as the estimated moving costs. When requesting full moving and packing quotes ask your moving company to provide two separate quotes, and have them break it down by material costs and related labor costs.
The staff at William C. Huff have been professionally trained by Chief Conservator, Merv Richard, of the National Gallery of Art, in all aspects of crating and handling fine art, sculptures, fine glass and porcelain. Other items which require crating are large glass, marble and stone pieces. William C. Huff Companies has a full crating department and can custom build the appropriate crates to guarantee safe handling.
Not all packing materials are the same. It is important to know that some boxes, tape and paper are lower quality material and can lead to frustration on move day. Many “big box stores” sell smaller than standard size boxes and often the boxes are thinner and are made with recycled material that does not hold up well against weight, moisture, and tape adhesion. William C. Huff Companies acquire only the best quality box, paper and tape material.
Recycle / Reuse Program
We make every attempt to pick-up and reuse boxes from our clients after they have unpacked. Our “no charge” for reused boxes program is popular for many of our clients who choose to pack for themselves. Additionally, we send over 250,000 lbs. of non-reusable box material and paper to recycling centers every year.
We are available to talk with you about all of our moving & storage services. If you have any questions about what we do and how we can help you, send us a message or give us a call!
